  • Preventative Vaccinations

Whether it’s a new kitten for the kids or the family dog that’s been with you for years, one of the most important things you can do to ensure the health of your pet is to adhere to provide regular vaccinations. Quality Care Animal Hospital offers regular vaccinations against common diseases for dogs and cats of all ages.

The type and frequency of vaccinations varies from annual to three year vaccines to protect your pet from certain diseases as prescribed by leading veterinary medical associations. Quality Care Animal Hospital only uses the highest quality vaccinations to ensure effectiveness and guard against undesirable side effects.

We recommend beginning your pet’s initial vaccine series at six weeks of age and completing the series by age four to five months followed by regular boosters as prescribed.

  • Complete Physical Examinations

Even if your pet appears to be perfectly healthy you should have them examined by a professional veterinarian on a regular basis. The comprehensive veterinary exam is a report card on your pet’s general health. Quality Care Animal Hospital performs these exams for pets as a preventative measure and method of early detection of medical conditions.

Pets can’t tell you if they’re experiencing pain or discomfort so health threats can often go undetected. Our comprehensive veterinary exams provide a baseline of your pet's overall health and provide the opportunity to discover and treat conditions before they become serious threats. The exam will generally include:

  • Observing your pet’s overall appearance and demeanor
  • Weighing and measuring your pet
  • Taking your pet’s temperature
  • Checking their heart rate and respiration
  • Visually inspecting their ears, eyes, nose and mouth
  • Checking the appearance and texture of their coat and skin
  • Hands on inspection of the internal organs by gently palpating areas of your pet's body

We will also ask you questions about behaviors you have noticed. These questions will focus on your pet’s medical history, diet and appetite including drinking habits, general energy level, changes in frequency or appearance of stool and urine production, home environment and others.

From our observations and the information you provide we will advise you on potential risks your pet may have for contracting diseases caused by internal and external parasites and viruses and how they can be prevented with vaccinations and/or medications.

Annual comprehensive veterinary exams are recommended throughout your pet’s life to ensure optimal health. More frequent exams may be warranted depending on extraneous factors such as the presence of disease or genetic conditions and as your pet ages.

  • Blood Screening

Blood Chemistry Screenings allow us to detect a number of health risks in the early stages, thereby improving the chance of effective treatment and cures. Among the conditions discernible through our blood screenings are diabetes, kidney and liver disease, and metabolic or hormonal imbalances.

Blood screenings should be performed as directed depending on the age and overall health of your pet.

  • Dental Care

Research indicates that among pets that do not receive proper dental care up to 80% of dogs and 70% of cats will develop dental disease by age three!

Regular dental exams and cleanings along with proper home care can spare your pet the complications associated with poor dental hygiene including halitosis, inflammation of the gums, loose or broken teeth, and the associated pain and discomfort brought on by such conditions.

Advanced dental disease can also result in health problems such as heart and kidney disease among pets. Quality Care Animal Hospital provides complete dental care for your pet to ensure their optimal health and well being.

  • Boarding and Grooming

  • Caring For Your Exotic Pet

Quality Care Animal Hospital also provides complete veterinary services for a variety of exotic pets including birds, reptiles, small mammals such as rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, rabbits and others.

These animals have highly specific husbandry and dietary needs and can carry a class of diseases known as zoonotic diseases which can be more difficult to diagnose and treat than those that affect more common household pets like dogs and cats.

In certain cases it may be the best interest of your exotic pet for Quality Care Animal Hospital to refer you to veterinary practices that specialize in the treatment of your particular species.
